Winelands
Full Day - The Western Cape is famous for its award winning
vintages. On the winelands tour, you’ll visit four different
wine farms and have about 5 tastings at each farm. There is the
option to buy wine at all of the farms and you will have a full
tour of the cellars and your guide will explain how the wine is
made. After visiting the second farm, you’ll be taken to
lunch (either at a restaurant in Stellenbosch or at one of the
wine farms) - all of this and your transport is included.
Half Day - Half day tours are a condensed version
of what you get up to on a full day. These are often almost the
same price as a full day, so if you have the time, a full day
is recommended.

Cape Point
Full Day - Travel around the beautiful Cape Peninsula
and enjoy our spectacular coastline, a visit to Boulders Beach
to see the penguins, the Cape Point Nature Reserve, a boat trip
to Seal Island and more… You’ll be collected from
your hotel/backpackers and your lunch is included. There are many
photo opportunities on this trip and no doubt you’ll see
baboons, which roam wildly throughout the peninsula. Bicycles
are also taken along – so if you’re feeling energetic
you can cycle within the reserve.
Half Day - Half day tours are a condensed version
of what you get up to on a full day. These are often almost the
same price as a full day, so if you have the time, a full day
is recommended.
Hiking & Biking option is also available.

Township Tours
Experience the harsh reality that is for so many South Africans
a way of life. The community is welcoming and the children’s
faces smiling (and always happy to be photographed).
Dinner at Mandela's -You’ll meet your guide
outside Long Street Cafe which is where your pick-up departs from.
You'll be transported to Hout Bay - Imizamo Yethu Township (or
Mandela Park as known by the locals) by taxi and experience an
evening of entertainment in the form of traditional African choirs
as well as Pantsula dancing which is kind of like hip hop mixed
with a South African township flavour. This all takes place in
a shebeen (a “pub”). This tour is designed to be non-
intrusive and allows you to interact with the locals of the area.
Dinner is served after the entertainment which is a wonderful
variety of traditional African food, served buffet style. The
funds go directly back into the community.
The Cultural Tour - Let's talk about history, culture,
ploitics, economic issues, current and future of the general life
of the township people. the tour starts with a visit to the District
Six Museum, looking at issues of forced removals. Visit the families
of Langa via Bonteheuwel, Guguletu and visit a pre-school in KTC/Crossroads
and stop in at Philani Centre (Women's Project) in Khayelitsha.
A half day experience departs at 9am and 2pm.

Walking
with Baboons
Walk with the last surviving group of Chacma Baboons of the Southern
Peninsula (near Cape Town, South Africa) and help to keep them
safe! Take a walk with these amazing creatures and experience
their gentle side as you see them in their natural environment.
About the Project...
Baboon Matters has developed the inspiring “Walking with
Baboons” project in an effort to create a level of awareness
and appreciation for these incredible creatures; perhaps through
better understanding will come an acceptance and tolerance that
will enable primates to learn to live alongside each other in
harmony. The aim is to bridge the gap between the wild world of
the Baboons and the civilised world of their human cousins. The
remaining Chacma Baboons on the southern peninsula (close to Cape
Town), face a bleak future as continued urbanization reduces wilderness
areas, resulting in on-going conflict situations between man and
baboon. Due to the unacceptably high mortality rates it was predicted
that within 15 years the baboons would face certain extinction.
At the current mortality rate there will not be a viable baboon
population on the peninsula within the next 10 years. The Baboon
Monitor Project was started in 1999 and over the past five years
has considerably reduced the conflicts between primates by keeping
baboons out of villages for 85% of days. The project employs 8
men from the nearby community of Masiphumelele. These men have
been working closely with the baboons and have gained a wealth
of wildlife experience as well as developing unique relationship
with the baboons of the Da Gama and Slangkop troops. Funding for
the Baboon Monitor Project is an on-going concern as pressing
social issues dominate the current funding situation in South
Africa. To support this important conservation initiative, 25%
of nett proceeds from this walk will be utilized to ensure the
continuation of the Baboon Monitor Project. Show your support
for this important conservation initiative and come walking with
Baboons !
The Experience...
Baboon Matters will guide you across the mountains around
Cape Town to spend time with the last remaining Chacma Baboons
in the Cape Peninsula. Our specialized two or three hour walking
tours will take you through the mountain fynbos until we encounter
the baboons in their home territory. This is a once in a lifetime
opportunity to sit and watch these fascinating animals as they
eat, play and socialize around you. Qualified guides ensure your
safety and enjoyment of this unique experience.
